2nd Saturday Art Fair

Come out and pay a visit to Randall Holbrook at the 2nd Saturday Art Fair in San Juan Capistrano, Auguat 11 between 10:30 and 4:00. He will be at the end of the Los Rios Park area with oil paintings.. His daughter's All Star team will be on hand with cookies and brownies to exchange for donations to their team. They are earning money to play in one more tournament!

Sideshow Shenanigans

I have 12 paintings on exhibit at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano. It's a good feeling to be invited back annually for the SJC Melodrama, written by my friend Gary McCarver. This is my fifth year! "Reed" is back for this show, so come and visit him. Thanks to Beverly Blake and Randi Peshkin for their continued support.

San Juan's Dirty Laundry

Showing in the lobby of the Camino Real Playhouse February 20 through March. "Wyatt Earp Live in San Juan" and "San Juan's Dirty Laundry" melodrama will be performed on the stage.

Laugh/Drink/Cry

I will not be at the Second Saturday Art Fair in SJC this weekend, we will be at Mt. SAC for the Cross Country CIF preliminaries. That evening, however, we'll be at the artist reception for the Laugh/Drink/Cry show at the SCA Project Gallery in Pomona.

Busy weekend coming up

November 14th will be a busy one with the 2nd Saturday Art Fair in downtown San Juan Capistrano all day, a couple soccer games with the girls, and then the Laugh/Drink/Cry juried show exhibition opening reception from 6-10 pm. The Laugh/Drink/Cry show is at the SCA Project Gallery, at 281 S. Thomas Street, Pomona, CA and runs November 14 to December 5. I had two pieces accepted for the show.

San Juan Capistrano Ridgewalk

Got up and out early this morning for the ridgewalk. It was a beautiful morning, above is a view of Doheny and Dana Point Harbor. I paired up with Howard Chaney, who painted harbor view. I looked east a little bit, and found a nice ridgeline with trees, some ocean behind, and one of the hiking trails being used by the walkers. We painted for about three hours, and came down off the hill (big hill!) around 11:00.

We got quite a few visitors to stop and chat, so I suppose as a "Plein Aire" experience it was a bit more social than usual. I found it a very engaging experience and hope to make it a habit.

I will be a "prop" for the SJC Ridgewalk and 10k run this Saturday morning. I will be trying my hand at painting out there in the wilds of the Capistrano hills - a la Van Gogh!

There should be a group show with SCA coming up soon, as well as the 2nd Saturdays in San Juan Capistrano. I will be exhibiting November 14 and December 12. The park on Rios Street has been completely overhauled and looks beautiful. I hope to get a booth space over there.

Out in the sun again

I will be out in the sun this weekend at the Second Saturday Art Fair in San Juan Capistrano this Saturday, August 8. Come out and say hi! There are lots of artists, live music, and good bars nearby! Hope to see you there.

This is one of my canaries. His name is Tweety, of course. He sings real loud and I am listening to him right now so I thought I'd post his portrait. I have been breeding them for about three years now, but am down to three birds right now.

ShowOff! 2009

There was a good-sized crowd at the Camino Real Playhouse for the opening of ShowOff! I met some great people, got to talk about the paintings with them, and was lucky enough to hand out some cards to a few. Thanks to Randi Peshkin and her husband Josh for getting me on the walls.

Rancher With Tractor

Kevin Maxfield splits his time between growing and harvesting hay during the day and award-winning object-oriented programming for international companies at night out at the Maxfield Redstone Ranch in the middle of Utah. This is the second painting of the year along with Hanalei Bay Pier (or the last paintings of 2008, when they were first sketched on canvas!)

I will be at the Camino Real Playhouse tonight to try out their new art hanging system. No more fishing line!!

Second Saturday Art Fair

Gearing up once again for the Art Fair in San Juan Capistrano. The fair is Saturday, December 13th, from 11:00am to 5:00pm. I will have some new Christmas cards, as well as two new paintings: Farmer with Tractor and Back-hoe, and Kauai's Hanalei Pier.
